A lasting power of attorney is an official document which enables you to choose a trusted person to act as your attorney. Your attorney can then help you make decisions regarding health, welfare, property and finances, should you need it. If you were to lose capacity and be considered incapable of making decisions, your loved ones would be unable to help make those decisions on your behalf without a lasting power of attorney.
