Civil Partnership and same sex relationships

Unfortunately, sometimes relationships don't work out

Our team has experience in dealing with all matters, and are well placed to provide couples with tailored advice, specific to your individual circumstances.

How we can help

In the eyes of the law, there is now parity for opposite sex and same sex couples with regard to civil partnerships and marriage, with all couples being able to enter into either union. At Freers Askew Bunting Solicitors, our team has experience in dealing with all matters, and are well placed to provide couples with tailored advice, specific to their individual circumstances.

With regards to the end of a relationship, be it a divorce for marriage, or a dissolution of a civil partnership, the procedure is the same for both same sex and opposite sex couples, and we refer you to the relevant page with regards to divorce.

Similarly, the courts have the same powers for same sex and opposite sex couples in relation to child arrangements and finances for those who are married or in civil partnership. For that reason, couples may wish to take advice regarding arrangements such as pre-nuptial agreements or separation agreements at an early stage.
