With over 70 years supporting clients across the Tees Valley and North Yorkshire, Freers Askew Bunting is a well-known and respected law firm. We’ve experienced exceptional growth, with offices in Middlesbrough, Hartlepool, Guisborough and Stokesley. We’re an exciting and dynamic firm to work in, with plans for further expansion in the near future.

We’re now looking for an experienced and motivated Practice Manager to join our senior team and help shape the next phase of the firm’s growth. This is a pivotal role for someone who thrives on responsibility, is comfortable across a broad remit, and enjoys leading from the front.

About the Role

As Practice Manager, you’ll be responsible for driving the smooth running of the firm, supporting leadership, and ensuring our high standards are consistently upheld. Key responsibilities include:

• HR & People – Leading recruitment, onboarding, performance reviews, training and development.
• Operational Management – Overseeing office and facilities management, and engagement with our telephone and IT service providers to ensure smooth running of our systems.
• Client Relations – Supporting excellent client service across departments and proactively resolving concerns.
• Admin Oversight – Managing administrative functions and ensuring efficient support systems.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a well-rounded professional with:

• Previous experience in a management or senior operations role (preferably in legal or professional services).

• Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.

• A proactive and solutions-focused approach to people, processes, and planning.

• A strong understanding of compliance, HR and risk management.

Legal industry experience is preferred, but not essential for the right candidate.
